Assistant Extrusion Machinist- Packer

Our client, an important manufacturer of door and window profiles, is looking for an Assistant Extrusion Machinist-Packer for his factory located in the east of Montreal.
The Assistant Machine Operator is responsible for assisting the extrusion machinist operating an extrusion line in a way that ensures all products are produced free from cosmetic and physical defects and are within manufacturing tolerances. They are responsible for the quality of the product run and adjusts and documents operating conditions to produce the highest attainable quality of pipe in a safe and efficient manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Properly monitors extrusion equipment, performs quality checks on product and maintains the coiling area,
Assists to start reels, set up and monitors product for quality and conformity,
Monitors operating parameters of product and extrusion equipment to confirm that product materials and quality requirements are being met,
Assist to start production lines and makes necessary adjustments to process conditions and to extrusion equipment,
Monitors cooling system to ensure proper operation,
Maintains accurate documentation of all product dimensions on production reports and accurately tracks “Lost Production Hours” including the reasons for lost time,
Follows all company-standard and position-specific safety requirements,
Follows and complies with all company policies and procedures,
Performs any other duties assigned by the Foreman, Supervisor and/or Production Manager.
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma and minimum 2 years extrusion or similar manufacturing experience preferred,
Ability to read and write English and French,
Ability take measurements,
Ability to follow quality control standards, and product specifications.
OCCUPATIONAL AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
​
Understanding of paperwork procedures and documentation requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable assistance
Ability to look for defects and sense temperature changes in the finished product
Ability to move from one area to another by stepping over and/or bending under objects, pushing and pulling objects.
Location: Montreal East,
Language: Preferably Bilingual, French/ English
Diploma: High School or equivalent,
Manufacturing: 2 years (Preferred)
Machine Operator: 2 years (Preferred)
Salary: $17-23/hour depending on experience
Shift: 8 hours per day on rotation day and night including weekends.
